The 2025 Jeju RISE Performance Forum was held from February 26 (Thu) to 27 (Fri) at Cheju Halla University’s Halla Convention Center. The forum was organized to share the outcomes of the Regional Innovation System & Education (RISE) initiative, led by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, and to explore future directions for higher education in the Jeju region.
Opening Ceremony and Celebration Performance
The first day of the forum featured an opening ceremony accompanied by a celebration performance.
Keynote Speeches
Kim Han-young, Chairperson of the Central RISE Committee, delivered a keynote speech on “Super-Regional RISE and Industry-Academia Collaboration.” He presented the vision of the RISE initiative for collaborative growth among regions, industries, and universities, along with the direction of super-regional cooperation models.

Lee Myung-hyun, Chairperson of the 5-Hub 3-Special Zone Special Committee under the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development, followed with a lecture on “5-Hub 3-Special Zone Balanced Growth Strategy and Regional Talent Development,” emphasizing the importance of regional talent cultivation within the national balanced development strategy.

Outstanding Student Achievement — Physical AI Data Augmentation Platform
The Cheju Halla University AI Department team (Kim Jae-eun, Moon Jae-hyun, Hong Seong-gwan, Kim Yong-bin) presented “Physical AI Data Augmentation Platform — Transforming Robot Learning” during the outstanding student achievement session. This research was conducted as part of the RISE industry-academia joint technology development project on “Research Collaboration for Development and Demonstration of Unmanned Road Damage Repair Technology,” incorporating joint research outcomes with Seoul National University and KAIST.


The AI Department team was awarded the University Innovation Presidential Award, recognizing their research achievements.

Policy Discussion Panel
The final session featured a policy discussion on the development direction of higher education and the RISE initiative in the Jeju region. Panelists from the Jeju Citizens’ Association, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Jeju National University, Cheju Halla University, Jeju Tourism University, and the Jeju RISE Center engaged in in-depth discussions on collaboration strategies between regional universities and industries.
