COSS GlobalConnectIoT: Meeting the Future of IoT in Australia
Students from the COSS (Convergence of Smart Systems) IoT program at Cheju Halla University successfully completed the ‘GlobalConnectIoT’ global field study program during their visit to the Gold Coast, Australia.
This program was organized as an overseas field study under the COSS initiative, designed to give students firsthand experience with global IoT technology and develop their practical capabilities.

CSIRO Tour: Experiencing World-Class Research Firsthand
The highlight of the program was a visit to the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). As Australia’s largest national science research agency, CSIRO conducts world-leading research across diverse fields including IoT, robotics, and marine science. Students visited CSIRO research facilities to see cutting-edge equipment used in actual research, including unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and IoT sensor-based data collection systems. It was an invaluable experience of seeing how theories learned in the classroom are implemented in global research settings.
Collaborative Experience through Team Projects
During the field study, students carried out team projects to develop problem-solving skills using IoT technology. Based on what they observed during daytime tours, they continued passionate discussions and collaboration late into the night with their laptops open.

Eating Together, Learning Together, Growing Together
Beyond academics, students cooked together, experienced local culture, and strengthened teamwork. Walking along the Gold Coast shores and sharing local cuisine built bonds among peers — another valuable outcome of the program.

Through the COSS GlobalConnectIoT program, students gained firsthand experience with global IoT technology trends and developed practical skills in overseas research environments. Cheju Halla University plans to continue providing educational opportunities through the COSS program for students to excel on the world stage.
