COSS GlobalConnectIoT: Learning Technology and Collaboration in Europe
Students from the COSS (Convergence of Smart Systems) IoT program at Cheju Halla University participated in the ‘GlobalConnectIoT’ field study program in Europe, gaining firsthand experience at technology and research sites in Switzerland and observing a UN ITU conference.
The program was designed to help students experience the global technology ecosystem beyond the classroom, broadening their perspectives through various site visits and team-based exchanges. Campus tours, institutional visits, and local cultural experiences were organically connected, fostering both practical skills and collaborative capabilities.

Experiencing Europe’s Innovation Ecosystem at EPFL
Students visited the EPFL campus in Lausanne, Switzerland, to explore the innovative environment of a European research-focused university. They experienced the open campus spaces and the atmosphere where research and entrepreneurship coexist, gaining a broader understanding of how cutting-edge technologies including IoT connect education and industry.

Broadening Global Perspectives through UN ITU Conference Observation
During the program, students observed a meeting of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) under the United Nations, directly experiencing the venue where global communication and technology agendas are discussed. They toured the conference halls and related spaces, realizing that technology extends beyond the laboratory to international standards, policies, and public problem-solving.

Strengthened Teamwork through Shared Experiences
The field study was as much about student exchange and collaboration as the official schedule. Walking through cities together, sharing meals, and exchanging program experiences during travel naturally strengthened teamwork. This process significantly enhanced the collaborative skills needed for future project execution and problem-solving.
