Cheju Halla University Discusses Design Thinking Collaboration with Stanford d.school
A delegation from Cheju Halla University visited the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school) at Stanford University in California to explore innovative design thinking programs for the RISE project.

The d.school’s distinctive educational approach — combining interdisciplinary collaboration with experiential learning — aligned perfectly with our university’s vision for educational innovation in the Jeju region. In particular, their philosophy of emphasizing experiential learning and pursuing a “bias toward action” resonated deeply with the goals of the RISE project.

Professor Seamus Yu Harte offered insightful guidance on how design thinking can transform education and drive regional innovation. Building on this, Cheju Halla University plans to create a dynamic innovation hub that addresses Jeju’s unique local needs while strengthening global connections.
Cheju Halla University stated, “Through this visit we discovered new approaches to creative problem-solving and innovation. We will adapt Stanford d.school’s innovative educational methodologies to our own context to develop more effective educational programs.”
The d.school remarked that they were “deeply impressed by the regional innovation vision pursued by Cheju Halla University’s RISE project,” and expressed hope to “continue sharing and developing innovative educational methodologies through ongoing collaboration.”
Based on the outcomes of this visit, Cheju Halla University plans to develop new educational programs utilizing design thinking and, through them, further dedicate itself to cultivating creative talent who will lead regional innovation.
