Cheju Halla University Discusses Collaboration with California Polytechnic State University
A delegation from Cheju Halla University’s Department of Artificial Intelligence visited California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) to discuss innovative education and research collaboration with Professor Madhusudan Vijayakumar.

The visit centered on in-depth discussions of two key areas linked to Cheju Halla University’s RISE (Regional Innovation System & Education) project.
First, the delegation explored collaboration on CubeSat development as part of the RISE Aerospace and Satellite Initiative. Cal Poly’s expertise in CubeSat design, fabrication, launch, and operations is expected to be of great value as Cheju Halla University works to establish its satellite program.
Second, the two sides discussed integrating AI technology into satellite payloads in connection with the RISE AI Education and Research project. Possibilities for joint research on autonomous satellite operations and AI-driven communication optimization algorithms were also presented.

Cheju Halla University noted, “This visit has laid the groundwork for building a partnership with Cal Poly and enabled us to establish a global education and research network in the aerospace field. We expect the RISE project to benefit greatly from this kind of international cooperation.”
Professor Madhusudan Vijayakumar remarked, “The convergence of AI and space technology will offer remarkable opportunities for students and researchers alike. We hope to achieve innovative educational and research outcomes through the collaboration between our two universities.”
