Cheju Halla University has been selected to participate in a government-funded talent development project receiving 10 billion KRW annually.
On April 21, the Ministry of Education announced the results of selection for new ‘local government participation-type’ consortium entities under the Advanced Field Innovation Convergence University (COSS) program. As a result, Cheju Halla University joined the IoT (Internet of Things) consortium led by Sejong University. In addition to Sejong University, the consortium also includes Daejeon University, Dongguk University, and Jeju National University.
The COSS program is designed to help operate convergence and interdisciplinary curricula for university students who wish to enter advanced industrial fields but have been unable to access educational opportunities due to their major. It consists of a ‘university-led type,’ in which metropolitan and non-metropolitan universities participate jointly, and a ‘local government participation-type,’ co-operated by metropolitan/provincial governments and universities.
The newly selected consortium will receive government support of 10.2 billion KRW per year for a total of four years (2024–2027). During this period, the project will be carried out in accordance with the talent development plan jointly established by local governments and universities.
Key contents are as follows:
- Local Government Support: Utilizing local key industry linkages along with the resources of regional companies and industrial/research complexes in university curricula.
- University’s Role: Developing advanced field curricula through interdisciplinary convergence, corporate collaboration, securing experimental/practical equipment, and flexibilizing academic and faculty systems.
- Student Benefits: Students may complete various advanced field curricular and extracurricular courses regardless of their affiliated department.
Cheju Halla University is proud to take on an important role in the IoT field through this consortium selection. Through this, our university will provide students with more innovative and substantive educational opportunities.
